These are a selection of photos that I took on New Year's Day 2008 standing outside the front of Via Gabarda, our first home in California.
England and our friends seemed like a long way away at such a significant time of the year, but we were able to watch London celebrate midnight and Big Ben's chimes live on BBC America at 4pm our time.
